Chapter four is a short introduction to a very special aunt and uncle who are extremely dear to my heart. As the story begins to unfold a little more, it is my prayer that the reader can better understand how our familial histories and personal backstories can truly mold and shape our own destinies.
Without giving it all away, I’d like to mention a few key questions to ponder at your leisure. The first being that if we know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that a friend or family member is under the enemy’s influence, do we deny that we are related and cut all ties immediately, to protect our personal spiritual walk? Do we just give them up to an enemy who has only one plan for their eternity? Or do we embrace the fact that they can still be used by our heavenly Father and actually play an integral part to His ultimate plan?
We know that whatever the enemy means for evil God can turn it around and use it for His and our good. He tells us as much in Genesis 50:20 (NLT); “You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.”
Yet another question could obviously be, where in the world do we go from here?
As you’ve read up to this point, you know full well that I absolutely love and adore my crazy, dysfunctional family. I’ve learned so many life-lessons from every single one of them, cousins and siblings included.
For me, the answer is simple. Family is forever. We never, EVER, give up on them. We pray them into heaven, with unrelenting, battle-worthy fervor. We do this because we know that we will spend eternity in one place or another. E-T-E-R-N-I-T-Y!! As Prince has been quoted as saying, “that’s a mighty long time.”
Besides, we are plainly told that we are not to judge others, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and the measure you use, it will be measured to you,” Matthew 7:1-2 (NIV). Already knowing full well that I have got to be one of the biggest sinners on the planet, I’ve come to another brilliant realization that according to the above scripture, I can NOT afford to judge anyone. I have to continually guard my tongue, take captive hyper-critical thoughts, and soften my heart towards others.
My aunt, a self-proclaimed medium, has lived her life on a much higher supernaturally spiritual plane. She believes all of the new age mysticism prevalent in the world today. She has also received downloads from her “spirit guide.” She has seen a plane crash and apparitions of supposed deceased loved ones in a vision or while in a trance-like state. She has known of events prior to their actual happening, and I’m sure was great fun at parties.
I am not advocating psychics or mediums. The Bible makes it “crystal” (ha) clear of God’s stance on this entire topic. I would also like to emphasize the fact that my aunt did indeed witness what was mentioned, and a whole lot more in the supernatural. I am sure of this, just as I am equally positive that she did have continual supernatural encounters. She opened quite a few doors and was bombarded with a host of willing other worldly participants. But what were they? Angels? Demons? Departed loved ones? If you were able to complete “Supernaturally Dysfunctional” in its entirety, then you already know my answer to that very question.
If you can bear with me a little while longer, I’d like to add a couple of insights not mentioned in the book.
My Aunt Willow’s younger sister shared a personal encounter she had witnessed during a visit to her home. Aunt Gracie felt uneasy upon entering Aunt Willow’s, but dismissed the feeling at once believing it all to be her imagination. While alone at the top of the stairs, she began to feel an evil foreboding that wouldn’t go away and an actual pressure on the middle of her back. The air grew heavy as the butterflies in her stomach began to twirl and shake without ceasing. She knew that something evil wanted to push her down the stairs. Needless to say, she left almost immediately after that. Aunt Gracie, a devout Christian, was obviously upsetting the dominating entities that had staked their claim over Aunt Willow and her home, and they let her know it.
Opened doors, opened doors, opened doors. We can absolutely, accidentally open unwanted negatively spiritually charged doors throughout our life-times. Aunt Willow purposefully opened those doors, as chapter four explains. The supernatural clearly has had free rein over her home and her life. Still does to this day. I refuse to judge her. That’s not my job, it’s His. He will always have His say and make a way for my aunt to escape eternal torment. He loves her that much, and so do I.
As you read “Supernaturally Dysfunctional” or blogs posted about it, I hope you test the spirits, and pray for God’s spirit of discernment going forward. I will do my best to explain away all happenings through God’s perspective and leave it to the reader to draw his or her own conclusion without judgement. Your job, then, would be to assess the truth in your inner most being and uncover any accidental unwanted open doors to the spirit world for yourself and your family. Once discovered, you will then have the power to close them. Especially if you read the rest of the book. My job is to get the word out and equip every reader with the tools necessary to overcome the devil and his exploits.
Though I may often joke between the pages, I assure you the topic is relevant and serious with the current state of the world. Thank you for continuing the journey with me and for hopefully starting some meaningful and much needed conversations.
*Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your continual unconditional love for us all. Thank you for being our ever present help and hope in times of need. Lord, we need you now. We pray for a hedge of protection around ourselves and our families in Jesus’ name. We pray that you touch our hearts and fill us up with your beautiful presence, your wisdom, and discernment as we go about our daily activities. Thank you for uncovering doors in our lives that were never meant to be opened and for sealing them up, stopping the defeated enemy in his tracks. We give you all of the glory, Lord, because we confess we can’t make it without your tangible presence in our lives. We love you, Lord. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen*
