"A dream is a wish your heart makes, when it's fast asleep,"
from Disney's animated CINDERELLA, released in 1950.
“Soaking in His presence until He shows up often yields an overwhelming sense of peace as you rest in the warm embrace of His love.” Chapter 11 excerpt from “SUPERNATURALLY DYSFUNCTIONAL.”
What can I tell you about Chapter 11 without giving it all away? Hmm. Well, for starters, I could emphasize Cinderella's quote at the top of this entry. It's one of my favorites, having raised a couple of beautiful little Cinderellas myself.
My hubby and I have tried to instill into our children the importance of not only having dreams (goals), but that the sky is the limit for them. We believe that if God put a dream or desire into your heart, then He will also equip you with the proper tools to achieve it. So when one of our young boys told us that he was going to be the next "MASK" (A Jim Carrey character) complete with catch phrases such as "Smokin'" and "I got to, Mista!", we told him that we could absolutely see him making it happen. Coincidentally, he is in the entertainment business today living in L.A., and is the constant family comedian.
This particular part of the book is about much more than those types of dreams, however. It details how God can supernaturally speak to us through dreams and visions while awake or asleep. He can make strange things happen in our dreams, have the dream full of symbols, give us a warning or personal message or even give us a glance of what will be happening soon in the world. He is God, after all, and can pretty much do whatever He wants.
We are also well aware that the devil has been known to invade a dream or two. Those types of dreams are less than fun, as we all are always relieved upon waking from them. He does seem to tip his hand, so to speak, as we then know exactly what to pray against when we wake up. He has the same tricks or tactics day after day. I'm always annoyed with myself when I allow him to get the better of me once in a while. It is best not to dwell on those types of dreams, similar to a bad movie that tries to invade our mind. We pray against it, and cast down every imagination and high thing that exhalts itself above the Lord. (2 Corinthians 10:5).
Acts 2:17 (NIV) tells us that "In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will dream dreams." Let's face it folks, in case you aren't keeping up with current events, (and I wouldn't blame you a bit if you aren't in this wacky old world) we are definitely in the "last days." Prophets have been coming out of the woodwork as of late and people are posting their prophetic dreams all over social media. Acts also states that "God will pour out His Spirit on ALL people." That includes you and me. I find that a very encouraging thought. He is pouring out His Spirit on ALL of us right now. If we pay attention, He will give us dreams and insight for the days ahead. Lean into Him. He's got this! (and so do YOU)!
**Lord, we just want to thank you for our time together this day. We thank you for guarding our hearts and directing our focus on things of you and not of this world. We take great pleasure in reminding our enemy, the devil, that YOU ARE UNDER OUR FEET IN THE NAME OF JESUS AND HAVE NO FURTHER AUTHORITY OVER US, OUR DREAMS, OUR FAMILY, OUR LIVES, IN JESUS' NAME! And Jesus, we thank you for covering us with your blood, healing and protecting us from all fiery darts of the enemy. Thank you for loving us so much that you paid the ultimate price to save us. We adore you, Lord, and give you all the glory, honor and praise. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen**
