"Whisper words of wisdom, let it be." The Beatles, "Let It Be" (1970)
“There have been days, battle-weary and just too tired to care, that I have felt utterly alone in my quest to become healthy and pliable enough to complete the journey the Lord has had me on. Those days sometimes yielded the biggest, brightest, and tastiest fruit of all, especially the ones where God showed up and whispered in my direction.“
Chapter 12 excerpt from “SUPERNATURALLY DYSFUNCTIONAL.”
As you could probably imagine by now, during the writing process of this book, there were many "high" highs and a few "low" lows. This chapter includes a bit of both. Though by this point in time, I'm not altogether sure that my extreme vulnerability and transparency has been enough to make a dent of a difference, I still need to see it through to its end. This chapter left me at times, completely undone. A painful experience, but nothing compared to what my family in previous chapters had to endure. And on that happy note, we trudge on!
What you need to know, is that through it all, He never left me. On the days I couldn't feel His presence, the loneliest of days, it was then that He carried me. Just as He did in that old poem "Footprints in the Sand" by Willard Thomas.
There were absolutely many, MANY days that I sang that old Beatles song to myself. I imagined God himself whispering "let it be."
He whispers. All the time. We are usually too busy to listen. We all, at times, succumb to distracted living. We can keep ourselves focused on work, class, hobbies, or fun events. Types of things we deem as important or worthy of our attention. Why is it that when it comes to being quiet before the Lord, we often "squirrel" it and become distracted.
Then an emergency hits us where we live. We assume the fetal position and cry out to God for help. We ask Him where He's been? Couldn't He see that we needed Him? Sometimes, if we're truly sincere and quiet before Him, He'll whisper words of comfort, words of wisdom "let it be." He'll gently remind us "my dear child, I never left you. I waited for you to come to me. Never will I leave you nor forsake you. YOU are the one whom I love." Undone. Wrecked. As we realize we were too busy with distractions to hear His gentle whispers. Don't miss out on those moments. He's worth it.
"The greatest of blessings or end goal of any prayer should be a desire to bask in His presence and just love on our Heavenly Father. He deserves it, He inhabits it, and He delights Himself in it. Simply stated, He loves you and wants to spend time with you. Besides all of that, He is extremely easy to love." Page 144-45, Chapter 12 of "SUPERNATURALLY DYSFUNCTIONAL."
**Dear Heavenly Father, we humbly come before you this day to thank you for never leaving us, for never giving up on us, and for continually whispering in our direction. We love you, Lord. We are sorry for hurting your heart by our own selfish distractions. We thank you that you are a God of second, third and fourth chances, even when we often miss our mark. Lord, we long to be more like you, for you are loving, tender hearted, and merciful in all your ways. Help us to see each other through your eyes. We praise you, adore you, and bless you, for you are always easy to love. In Jesus' name we thank you, Lord. Amen.**
